Grading pellets in the field

Owl pellets dissections are a great hands-on lab that never fails to fascinate and engage students.  Behind the scenes your pellet purchase helps support the rural economy and improve owl habitat.  We grade and count pellets on site as needed, pellets are heat-treated and foil wrapped back in our shop.  Most land owners are well aware of the benefits of a resident owl.  A well place nesting box greatly improves the survival of chicks and helps ensure a future supply of owl pellets.

Natural Habitat - Cut Banks

Think about this; the common Barn Owl has been on this continent for over 18,000 years. So were did they nest before humans began building barns around 400 years ago? Cut banks like these provided excellent habitat, and the Barn Owls light tan color is the prefect camouflage in this type of environment.

Rimrock can provide excellent habitat for many types of raptors. Many generations of Barn Owls have called this small cave their home.
