Distillation Apparatus can be used to produce high purity water, phenol, etc. by simple distillation. This unit has a capacity of 1000ml, and is made of borosilicate glass with a Grahm condenser.

Designed for laboratory use, this is a variable heat control, ceramic top heater. The heat is generated from resistant coils recessed into the ceramic top. It also comes with a removable ceramic top plate especially designed for round bottom flasks. Features:

From our in-house testing, we have found this versatile hot plate to be a good low-price alternative for those who do not wish to invest in a $250 Heating Mantle. Using the round-bottom ceramic adaptor, we brought 500ml of water to a boil in 14 minutes for a simple distillation procedure. A 5" support ring was able to securely support this compact and efficient heater.

Temperature Assembly
This assembly consists of a 1-hole rubber stopper sized to fit the distillation flask in place of the normal glass stopper. The partial immersion thermometer reads up to 110 C. for applications where temperature must be closely monitored in the distillation procedure. For most accurate readings the thermometer bulb should be positioned just below the side arm.

Steam Distillation Kit
Steam distillation is the best method to separate essential oils from plant material, because unlike simple distillation, the product does not have to be liquid at room temperature for separation.

Using our steam distillation apparatus, the steam passes through the biomass & picks up the oils of the material in vapor form. Then as the vapor passes into the condenser, it is quickly cooled & changed back into a liquid. This liquid will be primarily water, with the essential oil in the surface or bottom. A separatory funnel or small pipette could then be used to separate the oil from water.

A hot plate or a kitchen stove could be used for a heat source. The steam distillation apparatus contains everything else you will need:

Ready for extracting essential oils on a larger scale? This high-quality distillation apparatus features a stainless steel boiling chamber with a 7 gallon capacity. A screen basket stand suspends the plant material above the water level. Steam is generated internally with a 110v electric element that completely eliminates the danger of an external heat source. The water-cooled condenser unit is made of copper, and all tubing and connectors are included.

During our evaluation we were esaily able to extract a little over one ounce of high purity essential oil from 2 pounds of fresh lavender (English and French mix) in about 1 1/2 hours. A Separatory Funnel is recommended for separating the essential oil from the hydrosol.

Graham Condenser
Graham-type coil condensers. These high-quality borosilicate glass condensers measure 39 cm overall. Cooling water inlet and outlet diameter is 5mm, use 3/8" rubber tubing. The machine tapered product inlet measures 14mm. This is the same size condenser used with the 1000ml distillation apparatus. An excellent value!
